Now that I have my very own eBay store—and with the holidays fast approaching—I’m ready to run a Black Friday sale!
🛍️ How to Schedule a Sale
To run a sale, you must have an eBay store subscription. Here’s how to set it up:
- Go to your Seller Hub (log into eBay and click “Sell”).
- Click the down-arrow on the Marketing tab.
- Select Discounts.
- Click the down-arrow on the blue Create discount button (right-hand side).
- Choose Sale event.
- Decide whether to offer a percentage off or a set dollar amount, then enter your discount.
Watch out for these options:
- “Include skipped items when they qualify”: Be cautious—this can include newly listed items or inventory you didn’t intend to discount. I deselected this.
- “Keep items in this sale and block revisions for price increases”: This prevents price increases during the sale. I left it selected since I don’t plan to raise prices.
Customize your timing: The default duration is one month, which feels too long for me. I’m running mine the week before and after Black Friday. You can also adjust the start and end times.
Offer name: Buyers won’t see this, so change it only if you want to.
🧵 Selecting Items for Your Sale
Manual Selection (Great for Small Stores)
- Make sure “Manual” is underlined at the top.
- Click the blue “Add items” button.
This pulls up all your listings. You can:
- Select all items on a page using the checkbox in the upper-left corner.
- Remove any items you don’t want included.
- Sort by “Days on Site” to prioritize older inventory.
Repeat this process for each page of your listings.
Rule-Based Selection (Ideal for Larger Stores)
- Under “Select Items,” choose “Rule Based.”
- Filter by All Inventory or specific eBay/store categories.
- Set your price range and item condition.
- Click Apply.
Once you’re satisfied, hit the blue “Launch” button in the lower-right corner.
You can monitor your sale’s performance on the Discounts page under the Marketing tab.
So grab your cocoa, cue the holiday playlist, and let your inventory sparkle with irresistible deals. May your sales be merry and your shipping supplies plentiful! 🎁📦
