Listing an Item in eBay

Your inventory is fresh and clean—now it’s time to list!

🖥️ Getting Started

  • Go to eBay.com → click SellList an Item.
  • eBay may suggest a similar item using the Sell Similar feature. Review and edit details carefully.

📝 Title

  • You have 80 characters—use them wisely.
  • Put brand + size first, then add color, fabric, style, and other details.
  • Example: Talbots Sweater L Women’s Knit Pullover Aqua Blue Long Sleeve Ribbed Neck
  • eBay weighs the first 50 characters most heavily.
  • Need ideas? Search similar items for keyword inspiration.

📋 Item Details

  • Required: Must be filled in before listing.
  • Recommended: Add as much detail as possible (click “More Recommended”).
  • Additional: Expand with “More Details.”

📸 Photos & Description

  • Upload up to 24 photos + 1 video. Show all angles, logos, tags, flaws, and measurements.
  • Circle flaws in photos so buyers aren’t surprised.
  • Use the AI description tool to generate text, then edit it to sound natural. Always note flaws.

💲 Pricing

  • Research sold listings for similar items.
  • Options: Buy It Now or Auction.
  • Features: Auto Reduction (price drops every 3 days) and Allow Offers (accept/decline manually).
  • I usually stick with Buy It Now + Auto Reduction + Offers.

📦 Shipping

  • Decide: buyer pays vs. free shipping. If free, price items higher to cover costs.
  • Carriers: USPS, UPS, FedEx. I use calculated USPS shipping.
  • Tools: cheap postal scale + eBay’s shipping calculator.
  • Packaging: poly mailers for clothes, B Flute for books, boxes for shoes.
  • Be accurate—wrong measurements mean you eat the cost.

⏱️ Handling Time

  • Choose same‑day or 1–3 days.
  • I select 1 day but usually ship same‑day. Overdeliver when possible!

🔄 Returns

  • Optional. I accept returns—only 3 out of ~85 sales so far.

🌍 International Shipping

  • Default is enabled. I use eBay International Shipping only—ship to their hub, they handle the rest.
  • You can opt out if you don’t want international sales.

📢 Promotion

  • eBay offers promotion tools. I haven’t tried them yet, but plan to experiment.

✅ Final Steps

  • Click Preview to check your listing. Fix errors before publishing.
  • Choose List It (live now) or Save For Later (drafts).

📅 Consistency

  • Success = listing daily.
  • Match listings to your sales goal (e.g., list 3 items daily if you want 3 sales daily).
  • Save drafts to release on days off.

✨ Bottom line: Listing gets faster with practice. Start simple, stay consistent, and soon you’ll be listing like a pro.
